'Genovese' is the Italian strain of basil often regarded as the best for pesto. Its large dark green leaves measure up to 2" (5cm) long. It grows to about 2' (60cm) in most gardens. Basil is a herb, though native to the Mediteranean, still likes a bit of shade in the hottest part of the day. And oh the fragrance! Almost nothing else, except perhaps the smell of tomato leaves, conjures up summer for us. Full sun to part shade. Annual. 0.5g/Approximately 275 seeds
