Urban Harvest
Organic Tomatillo Purple de Milpa
Physalis ixocarpa
Round purple fruit in a papery husk. Used to make salsa in Mexico. Try sauteing, or fresh in salads for their tangy taste. Harvest when paper husk turns brown and opens. The more sun they get the more purple they will be. This is a very old, traditional variety - the word "milpa" is Nahuatl, roughly translating to 'what is planted in the field'. An excellent plant to include in a Three Sisters garden!
