Origanum majorana

THE herb in our kitchen. Can't live without it. Jamie Oliver's favourite herb too so we have been told. Sweet marjoram is native to North Africa and Southeast Asia and has become naturalized in the Mediterranean region.

The Greeks called this plant 'joy of the mountain' Precious to Aphrodite, Goddess of love. It is an essential soup herb. Great with chicken and fish but adds richness to vegetable dishes too. For culinary purposes it is best used before flowering. Also can be used as a tea for headaches and colds.

Very tender perennial. Usually grown as an annual. 0.08g/Approximately 400 seeds.
