Vicia faba

Tall upright, non-branching plants grow to 90-120cm (3-4'). Dark green leaved plants have white flowers with black markings, which give way to light green pods containing 6-7 seeds each. The beans are an early, high protein food. Delicious fresh and can be dried for winter use. Did you know that the leaves of the Fava bean plant are also edible. They are a delicious and nutritious very early green. 75-85 days. Full Sun. 

Direct sow in Oct./Nov. in mild winter areas and Feb-May in other areas. We plant ours in early April in Ontario.
